We thank you, oh Verizon overlords, for finally releasing a software update for the Motorola Q. Your generous endowments of which we are not worthy will add the Microsoft Messaging and Security Feature Pack, which gives push email to our bedeviled Q’s. Your generosity in allowing us to now tether our smartphones to our laptops so we can use thy fast EVDO internet for laptop browsing will not be taken in vain.

  • Has anyone done this update? How was it?

  • I performed the update and it wasn’t too bad. You have to follow the directions very carefully!!! The main issue is during the software update all of your personal data and apps will be erased. So you have to manually backup everything and re-install after the update is complete or use backup software such as Sprite backup.

I documented some tips at sprenzy.com.

  • I assume this update you speak of is the one notice I recieved in the mail from Verizon that gives the MotoQ V Cast. I downloaded it and found it extremly flawed and annoying so I deleted it within the week. Problems included it’s refusal to update news, weather, inbox messages and the blue interface was childish and girly. c’mon if I wanted a crappy RAZR or other V Cast phone I’d get just that. This is supposed to be a business pda, not a toy.
