Samsung YP-K5 MP3 Boombox With Built-In Speakers

What do you get when you combine a Samsung MP3 player with a set of built-in speakers? Something fairly decent, actually. The Samsung YP-K5 MP3 player looks like a regular player from the front, but has a sliding speaker case mounted on its rear. So how is it? Well, for a flash-based MP3 player it’s kind of bulky. Three times the thickness of an iPod Nano actually.

The UI itself is very attractive. On the 1.7-inch OLED screen, an equalizer, scroll buttons, and playback control. Some added bonuses in this unit are an alarm clock and FM tuner, things you won’t be using ALL the time, but are nice to have. The player gets 30 hours in regular playback, six hours when using the speakers, and charges in three hours with the included AC adapter. We could have done without the included speakers as not everyone needs them, but they should be useful on the pooper.
