Windows Media Player 11 Beta 2, with MTV’s Urge music service, is now availible for download . If you’re running WMA 11 Beta 1, you should probably get this ASAP. Beta 2 features:
Fixing issues. Fixes have been made for issues that occurred in the first beta release of Windows Media Player 11 for Windows XP.
Additional online stores are now available. More online stores are available in this beta release of Windows Media Player 11 for Windows XP. For a listing of online stores that are now available, see Availability of online stores.
Changes to sharing digital media content. The functionality of Windows Media Connect is now integrated into Windows Media Player 11 Beta 2 for Windows XP as the new Media Sharing feature, which lets you enjoy the contents of your Windows Media Player library from anywhere in your home. If you have a home network (wired or wireless), you can use Windows Media Player 11 to stream the contents of your library to networked devices such as Xbox 360 or other digital media receivers. For more information, go to Digital Media at Home.
Hopefully it runs better than previous versions, or at least better than iTunes.

“or at least better than iTunes”?
iTunes is the gold standard and wmp will get there (….eventually). When they do it will be over as innovation is not exactly ms’s strong spot. And they need to wait for someone to lead the innovation.
Beta 1 was a sorry apology for a product and hopefully 2 gets some things rite.

WMP11 is better than iTunes in my opinion. There are still some areas to address though.
> The startup is still somewhat slow as WMP updates the store and library information.
> I’d like to be able to add a single track to the library, not just have the “Add to Library” automatically scan the folder and pull in every track.
> With 14 store options, I would like an integrated search that searches all the stores simultaneously (or the stores that I select would be even better), not just the current store.
> The interface is excellent. It’s hard to believe that the same company designed the UI for WMP and IE7. The IE team should collaborate with the WMP team on their next interface. And the interface is hugely better than iTunes.
> Urge is much better than iTunes with the interface and search capabilities. I have noticed in particular that albums not yet distributable do not come up in the search results at all on iTunes. But they do appear on Urge with a notice and they are gauging the traffic to leverage with the labels.
> Urge lets you watch videos without paying. Videos are available even for songs not yet distributable.
> WMP doesn’t seem to impede my system nearly as much as iTunes does on my Macs.
> With WMP, I can transfer tracks to any device (except iPod). That’s a big plus because I don’t own an iPod.
