TiVo Series 3 Price Finalized: $800

Popular Mechanics says the TiVo Series 3 DVR is going to be $800. Yep, they sound pretty sure of themselves. So far the price has just been an all-but-confirmed rumor, but if Pop Mech says $800, who are we to argue?

They don’t say anything about the launch date, but we’re still thinking somewhere around an October/November timeframe. As you pony up one month’s rent, remember that this has two HD tuners and can record 35 hours of HD content. That’s a whole season’s worth of 24, plus half a season of Lost. It’s worth it, right?

  • I hate that I am not using Tivo now as my DVR (it died in a t’storm), but for 11.99/month from Charter for a Moxi how can I justify an expense of 799.00 plus 17.99 per month for usage?

Yes the high enders who have money to burn, they will get one, but for the majority of ppl, we will have to stick with our series two or cable supplied DVR. Sad…TiVo had a chance to woo us all back, but not with a sticker of 799 plus monthly services charges. Forget it.
