UK Theatergoers Want to Jam Your Phone, Hate Your Freedom

Apparently 72 percent of British theatergoers would like theaters to block cellphone reception during the show, thereby avoiding the typical in-movie conversation which consists solely of “I’m in a movie. What? A movie. Oh, I don’t know. It’s pretty good. What?”
Clearly, this poll isn’t the reality and the moment anyone tried to jam a phone during a screening of Shrek 12: Donkey Gets Some, there will be all sorts of hell to pay. However, the lady wife and I actually stopped going to our local theatre because the youngsters apparently think that when the movie starts it’s time to make plans for Labor Day weekend, discuss the Middle East crisis, and hold a panel discussion on their classmates’ choice of wardrobe. God, I’m getting old.
Anyway, where else should we jam cellphones? Please discuss.

The only places cell phones should be jammed or blocked is where talking of any sort is unacceptable. Schools/classrooms would probably be a good place to start (there’s been a lot of talk about this one anyways), as would the theater, classical/jazz music concerts, or churches.
Otherwise, using a phone is just like having a normal conversation, and if you’re free to speak, you should be free to call.

My bedroom…
My wife: “I’m having sex. What? Sex. Oh, I don’t know. It’s pretty good. What?” *covers mic with hand* “Can you please stop for a second?” *uncovers mic and back into phone* “So sorry, what were you saying?”

I like the idea of the cellphone jamming in theaters but I think its a bit unpractical because many parents leave the kids with a sitter to have a night out. If there was an emergency and the parents could not be contacted because of the phone jam, I think a lawsuit would definitely ensue.
But I do agree with Tony about schools and classrooms. Some of the kids in schools in my area have been using phones to help cheat on exams and even handle drug deals while in class. Every school has a payphone and an office if a student needs to make a call for an emergency. Besides, most kids just call other kids that are already at school with them!
