[...] The Red One Super Resolution Ultra Magic Voodoo camera might be in some sort of nefarious jeopordy. Jim Jannard, who’s both the founder of Red (and polarized sunglassses house Oakley) and the optical visionary behind the Mysterium sensor that is at the heart of the ultra-high-def camera, has posted scant but igniting details about a break-in last night at the Red headquarters.
[...] Since we were there with a cheap-o exhibition ticket, and could not attend the conference, we missed out on a lot of the digital cinema presentations. I did see the RED booth: the first 4K digital camera (4520 x 2540 pixels) that records in 2540p (not interlaced). Besides the obvious technical achievements (the camera was demo’d for the first time at IBC) you also have to admire the buzz-marketing around the product. [...]

i love this thing. i love it. a friend told me about it a few days ago, and it's got lots of talk on the internet about it. i'm really hoping they come out with other related products like projectors or storage. having a camera capable of shooting 11MP/60fps isn't much good if you can only shoot 15 seconds at a time. :P

Mmmmmm. Nice!

So how many minutes of "4k video (4520 x 2540 pixels)" will fit on a Blu-ray disc and how long will it take for my P4 to convert it to Xvid? I am thinking not many and weeks! Wouldn't mind seeing a projector capable of that too.
