iTunes is Down and Ominous

In preparation of this morning’s event, Apple has disabled iTunes, most likely to prepare for its $14.99 movie download service. Users have been being greeted by the “It’s Showtime” message, but currently it seems to just be timing out.
The event is scheduled to start at 10PST, 12CST, 1EST. I’m betting on an updated iPod, Airtunes Video and, of course, movie downloads through iTunes (iMovies?).

For a couple of hours the UK store was showing a slight more obscure, but unfortunately not particularly more informative, error message. However it’s now also telling us “It’s Showtime”… does this mean movies for everyone, despite the iTunes divide?

The UK store? Please, Steve, make it international… I want downloadable movies, too!

Good question. We Canadians are still waiting for TV shows.
