I got a similar hard plastic case for my green iPod Mini when I bought it the day it came out.

After a few years of daily usage, the plastic has tons of scratches from battles with my car keys in my pocket, but the iPod still looks like the day I bought it.

I would get these for a new Nano.

ill go ahead and start this debate.
a case is needed for 2 reasons.

1. preventing your device's from becoming a shiny backlit etching
2.protecting your device from accidently accrue of said unappealing grease

although the annodized aluminum does a pretty good job for 2.
