I'm confused as to why no one seems to care that it doesn't allow voice? I use my son's Windows machine just to send voice messages since I can't do voice on the Mac version. I keep waiting and still another release without voice. Can anyone explain why no voice? :(

While I prefer Yahoo! IM over MSN (or whatever they are calling it these days), I cannot help but notice that it takes up a lot of memory and processes for such a minor application. I wish they would stop expanding the pruduct and put out a simplified version that enabled communication with MSN. It would make my life a lot easier.

I've been using a Mac OS X version of the Yahoo chat client for quite some time. It's not up to the windows version's standard, but it's bearable if you want that pseudo-videochat feature with the constantly updating picture.

My Yahoo!-er stands corrected, it was open to everyone, but not everyone was encouraged to download. They're doing a re-launch, and advertizing, which, ya know, why the Beta? When's the real version? Yahoo. I tell you.

Thomas: You're right. I downloaded it in July and it was open to everyone.

As for talking with MS Messenger users I found that I needed to go to a Yahoo! site and "activate" the functionality. Simply by entering my Yahoo username and password. Users with MS Messenger had to do the same on a Microsoft web page. Once that was done I was able to talk to Messenger Live users and vice versa.

July was limited? It was open and freely available on all computers I accessed. I never heard of any private beta.

I've got mine working with Windows Live! users, actually. And the July release was limited to certain users, not everyone was invited to download and participate. It should have read the general public beta.
