Am I the only one who doesn’t have a clean-white theme to my media components?

If I were to get this as media center storage, it would definitely stand out amonst my black components, and I’d have to hide it behind something.

Then again, this is obviously targeted towards the ginormous Apple-only media center crowd.

But, as a plain NAS for my Macbook Pro, I like it. :-)

I think it says a lot for Apple’s industrial design crew that they’re able to fit an entire PC (err, Mac) in the same space that other companies can only fit a bare-bones NAS.

That said, if this thing supported mirrored RAID, I’d buy one, if only so I could put it on my desk very publicly, then hide my PC and see how many people took me for a Mac convert.

Personally, I hate the Mac Minis design. We have a couple floating around here. The white top is easy scratch and discolor. I had to add some RAM to the Intel-based models running non-universal binary Adobe applications (because they would grind to a halt). To add the RAM, the Apple site literally said use a putty knife to open the Mini. I had to buy three different putty knives because two of them had blades that were still too thick to open the case. Once inside, I had to use hemostats to insert the RAM because fingers would be too big to not bump the bluetooth antenna or damage other components. It took me a good afternoon to do this for two Minis. Foretunately, I maxed each one out on RAM and will not have to do that again!
