It hasn’t even been a week since Apple’s latest product unveiling and already the rumors of new products are beginning to spin once again. This one is a familiar old tune, remember that touchscreen iPod? Yea, well apparently we’re going to see it by year’s end. On the other hand, there were legions who swore we’d have it several other times this year, so keep that block of salt close at hand.

wait…. Apple is going to release a touch screen ipod.. i hadn’t heard anything about this… i want one….
I have a rumor to add myself, or whatever you want to call it. This morning I flew from San Diego to San Jose, and while I was waiting for boarding to begin, I was sitting next to a man (the suit and tie business type who never gets off the phone) who was on the phone with someone (sorry, he never used a name, and I also couldn’t see any name or company tag attached to his laptop bag) talking about getting back on schedule etc. but the most significant part of the sentence which caught my attention was that he said “…yes, and we’ll meet either in Fremont or Mountain View to further discuss the iPhone thing…”. Well, it might mean nothing, and rumors about the iPhone are not new either, but maybe it means that it’s really coming out soon?
After all the false alarms, I don’t even care if they release it anymore. Not that I was ever going to buy one anyway, since I stick to droppable flash-based players, but I hope they never release a full-screen iPod, maybe even never planned to, and that the Apple rumor crew invented the whole thing.
This would be pretty cool but I am getting sick of the rumors- wake me up when it has arrived…
I was holding out for a widescreen iPod announcement during Job’s talk. After the talk, I was ready to purchase a 5.1G iPod for watching videos on.
Now, I think I may have to wait a few more months, just to be sure.
Well the new nano’s were just released sooooooo one might think that the new full size ipods have an update coming whether they’re fullscreen or not an update should be coming soon.
i really do want one.. but then i start to think that really what’s the point…. i never watch movies on my psp.. what makes me think that i will watch them on my ipod.. no i think it’s a nano for me…
these rumors have been circulating for so long it is rediculuous. Even if they did come out with a full screen video ipod, i dont think it would have any trouble selling.almost all the products apple makes are done very well. the name for this device would be something that would have to be ingenious for it to fly. video ipod will not cut it. also i think that if and when apple was ever to release it, i dont think they would call it an ipod. i have a feeling they could start a different line with it.But once again, i say IF and WHEN.
This is ridiculous…it’s only been a week! I’m sure Apple is working on a wide screen video iPod but these rumors are pitiful. Also, doesn’t anybody else agree that a touchscreen with a wide screen is a very bad idea? I mean from the usability standpoint, do you really want to watch DVD-quality movies on a screen with fingerprints all over it?? I think this rumor smells and if Apple is going to create the widescreen iPod, it will probably be much closer to the design of the Creative Zen Vision: W. because, of course, Apple gets their iPod ideas from Creative anyway..haha.
The most annoying thing about this site is that you guys are constantly printing the most absurd rumors as if they were fact. “Apparently”? Come on… Apple rumors are *always* wrong if they aren’t coming up within days of the announcement (when more people start to know about new products). Since Steve Jobs is back, Apple has been extremely good in protecting the secrecy of future products.

Jebus, I guess this would be cool as it allows the unit to utilize more screen space, but heck, aren’t iPod’s fragile enough already? To beef up the durability on these pods will cost quite a bit o’ cash I’d imagine.
I don’t buy it, this is only another rumor. Besides the technical difficulty to create such a product (how do you make a fingerprint-proof screen?) it doesn’t make sense to release a new iPod only 3 months after the new video iPods.
