I thought it was a screen too. I agree, Apple should have integrated FM (and AM too -- I want my NPR) into all ipod models a long time ago. I was really disappointed in Steve Jobs' speech last week because this among other things continues to fall under their radar. Personally, I'd rather just plug a player into the Auxiliary line of my stereo than to have to buy a separate pair of speakers (average quality) specifically for the player.
