Hey, for a device with a bigger screen and wifi support (2 big energy draws), a couple of hours of audio and half an hour of video is not a big deal at all.

In my mind, they’re about the same battery performance-wise. It won’t be a deal-breaker.

I just wish they would copy apple and have it available as soon as announced!

The extra features in the Zune seem appropriate for the decrease in battery life. I’m still open minded to the Zune. Plus, I rarely listen to my player for 12 hours without a recharge. Video may be another factor, though.

That’s backwards. The bigger screen means that this player is more suitable for videos than the iPod. Unfortunately, the battery life makes the bigger screen kind of pointless, because even though you could watch movies on this thing, you can’t, so… The bigger screen *makes* the bad battery life a big deal.

They should create a physical recharge device for these products. As you’re walking or cycling or jogging or even sitting on a bus, they could make it so that your body will generate a little bit of energy to prolong battery life.

I’m not saying plug it into us Matrix style, but maybe some inertial device would be cool.

Not that I’m rushing out to buy this, but the way I see it the 2 hours music/ .5 hours video playback loss is a fair tradeoff in battery life to gain WiFi, FM, and bigger screen. If you are watching more than a 3.5 hour video on an iPod you need your head (and your eyes) examined!

Do you realize that in the Zune you can make the back light low making it last longer. The Zune in the sun is also better. Trying to see the screen on an ipod in the sun is terrible and with a zune its different.
