Elle, the fetching Gamestress from the Xbox team at Microsoft, is pimping the new Xbox Live Vision webcam on the Xbox site.
The camera, which should be available tomorrow, is a 1.3MP still cam and a VGA-quality video cam. You can use it to chat live with your gaming buds (whilst hoping they’re wearing pants), take pics of yourself for in-game avatars, and trade footage of your girlfriend in the shower in exchange for, well, don’t do that.
It does quite a bit more, but you don’t need me to tell you about it, you need Elle at Xbox to tell you about it.

Does anyone know why modern webcams are still at such low-resolution? I understand mobile phones are a bit behind because of size and cost issues…but does a webcam have to be?
I’m curious to see what kind of camera-enabled games come out, or what kind of functionality regular games will have for the camera.
As an owner of the PS2 cam, I was disappointed with the software support for it. I hope the 360 can do better.
Look at this french website,
They already have it !

Yeah, I hope they’ll make a few fun games with this camera… The EyeToy games had a bunch of nice ideas, but nothing really good came out of it. Hopefully this fares better.
I can’t really see this taking off. But then again, I can’t see how this could be fully integrated into a game. Seems like it would be more of a distraction.
Keep on going and the chances are you will stumble on something, perhaps when you are least expecting it. I have never heard of anyone stumbling on something sitting down.
i got it!
they need different resolutions to cater for different internet speeds, so faster internet can get better resolution!
