The slingbox is an awesome addition to the TV-as-it-should-be world. Sling Media has released three new versions of the slingbox — the Slingbox Tuner, Slingbox A/V and Slingbox PRO. The Sling Community (www.slingcommunity.com — which my company Capable Networks manages) is the place to talk about the placeshifting revolution and the latest in Slingbox technology. Doesn’t the old slingbox do pretty much all the things the new pro does? Control DVR, A/V, and basic cable? Granting the old slingbox does not support HD and has a slightly worse quality overall. With the old ones going for around $140 it does not seem like a good deal to get a nerfed slingbox tuner or AV for $180 or buy a pro for $240.
