Sweet Silver Fatty Drive: Western Digital 1TB MyBook Pro Edition II
by Josh Goldman on October 3, 2006

Buffalo’s DriveStation Duo release yesterday comes Western Digital’s launch of the 1TB MyBook Pro Edition II. Like the Buffalo, this MyBook is stuffed with two drives that can be switched between RAID 0 (striping for speed) and RAID 1 (mirroring for data protection) and has FireWire 400/800 and USB 2.0 ports. WD trumps Buffalo in the looks department for sure and I dig the capacity and activity lights on the MyBook as well. I do prefer the Memeo backup software on the DriveStation compared to the Retrospect Express on the MyBook though, that’s a very minor issue.

WD’s My Book Pro Edition II can be had immediately at an estimated price of $549.
