Microsoft…I’ve already pre-ordered a Zune and if you want to market this product and its accessories to me and the others that all about tech devices…then you need to get CRUNCHED. We’re the early adopters that will virally spread the message to the mass consumer audience. No one really pays much attention to the B-story in the last 5 minutes of the evening news broadcast anyway and if they do they’re not like the technorati. Get with it here! Also, per Reg’s comment, it should be well known that Zune is slightly heavier than than the 80GB iPod. In fact, our very own Zunerama broke that story on the 14th after our interview with Microsoft’s Chris Stephenson.

I hadn’t thought about Reg’s observation that perhaps it “feels lighter” because of its slightly larger size. That might explain it.

I thought when I saw that story on Techmeme and how all the bloggers had linked to it and parroted “weighs considerably less” that the Zune marketers were well on the way to owning the blogosphere as well as the mainstream media.

(Incidentally, only one of the Techmeme links pointed out that it doesn’t weigh less at all, it’s actually more at 5.6 oz for the Zune vs 5.5 oz for the 80GB iPod, and 4.8 oz for the 30GB iPod. The Zune probably feels lighter because it is bigger and the mass is distributed over larger volume.)
