PS3 Causes Sony Stock Drop

Contrary to popular belief, I don’t hate Playstation 3. In fact, I can’t wait to get my hands on one - if it works, that is. David Gibson, an analyst of for Macquaire Equities, released a report stating that Sony just had a recent a 2.75% drop in their stock due to technical problems with the Playstation 3 units at TGS this year.
We are concerned that such a negative problem has occurred so close to full production and is clearly negative news for the company.
Gibson’s report states that Playstation 3 units were overheating, behaving erratically and had to be repeatedly shut down. Once again, Sony stated that there were no problems with the Playstion 3 units themselves. How stupid do they think we are? Even 1Up experienced a defective Playstation 3 when an EGM (Electronic Gaming Monthly) editor was playing Motorstorm! Nanako Kato, of Sony, stated that the problem was due to poor ventilation and the heat of 200 PS3 units being too close together. She also stated that this was a common problem among all developers at trade shows. I’m just going to ignore what she has to say from now on and hope Sony gets the PS3 functioning properly before launch.

As much as I am vying for the PS3 and looking forward to making it my next gaming platform, I have to agree with Raj.
Sony needs to get this product right as it is now a flagship product for the company and a major incident (did someone say laptop batteries) could have global repercussions. The video game industry has always had leaders that later fell on bad fortune (ie. Atari, NEC, Sega, Nintendo’s fall from #1, etc). Sony could end up being another Sega if they aren’t careful with the launch of such an important product to their company’s bottom line and viability. Nuff said. :-/

Sony use to be such a great brand, but now I am begining to wonder what has happened. Especailly in the recent news about the troubles with their notebook batteries.

I really want a PS3 badly. So badly I have been saveing up my money for 2 years for it. But I started thinking it might be too risky buying one on launch day because of the high risk factor of defectiveness. Even though I believe it is teh surpreme system in the console race every sytem sufers severe defects in mass numbers on launch because of the rushing production. So I might just get a 360 until then even though teh graphics arent as good.
