Sony’s Not Selling Any More Monitors
by Gavin Robinson on October 9, 2006

Let the “Sony’s going down” rumblings begin anew. It announced to heise online that they are not going to be marketing monitors any more. In a move that came as a surprise even to Sony’s European office, they have announced that the only monitors they will continue to produce are their “professional” monitors, such as displays for broadcasting, medical-technology and video-surveillance systems. It seems that there’s just not enough money to be made in the flat-screen business, and Sony came in 10th place in that market last year. C’est la vie.
