EB Games and GameStop just started PS3 pre-orders and we’re almost positive they’re already sold out as you read this. Each store has about 10 consoles and requires a $100 deposit, but give your local shop a call before heading down.
GameStop and EB Games will begin accepting limited pre-orders for the PlayStation 3 console on Tuesday, October 10, on a first come, first served basis. Due to extremely limited supply, we expect to deplete this allocation very quickly, most likely in minutes. We will not accept additional pre-orders at this time. To avoid an unnecessary trip we strongly recommend you call your local store to determine availability. A $100 reservation deposit is required, which can be funded with cash, credit or trade. As we cannot control production and shipping issues by the manufacturer, a reservation deposit does not guarantee receipt of a system available to purchase at launch. Reservations/Purchases are limited to 1 per household.

I went to a backwoods gamestop (town of about 20k people) and got in line, there were about 12 of us there; the guy came out at opening and said “2 were already taken for customers”; he was a total a-hole, it was obvious they were for him and the other guy working in there. Anyway, they took amounts of $100 and up and put you on a “no guarantees” list. Originally we thought there were 8 60g and 8 20g preorders available but he put everyone for the one they wanted. I was the 8th person to request a 60g, but I am skeptical that I’ll see it on the launch date. My friend was about 12th and they put her down for the 60g. One guy paid for the whole thing right there 635 dollars or something, so I would say his chances are better. Who knows . . .
