Don’t get fooled by Sony’s mysterious marketing. There’s really no big reason on getting a PS3 this holiday season. Sure, there’s the Blu-ray playback, but there’s going to be barely any games for it worth playing. You’re better off with the Wii and Xbox 360 this time around, and if you really want a PS3, grab one sometime in ‘07.

It certainly has an extremely epic feel about it. Sony seems to continuously devise some interesting, if rather strange advertisement campaigns. This certainly doesn’t seem to be an exception to their standard-setting rule book.
I’ll be grabbing one on launch day, despite the advice. I like the ads, personally. They aren’t selling these things to kids, after all. Count on Sony to start dropping actual game footage into the ads closer to the date. This is just the tease. The PS3 can crush children in my neighbourhood any day.
I’ve got my pre-order in (yup I’m one of the few) so thanks for the warning, but no thanks.
As for the ads, I like them. They aren’t advertising to kids this time around, so its good to see a little art in their presentation. Expect more game footage closer to launch day. This is just the tease.
The PS3 can crush kids in my neighbourhood anytime.
Interesting, though at this point Wii is still more interesting to me.
The audio quality sucks in this clip, so it’s difficult to tell, but the music really sounds like Sigur Rós.
I must have missed all those must have Wii titles that are going to appear at launch.
(I’ll be waiting for Mario Galaxies, and playing Zelda on GC)
What a completely biased fanboy rant……..get off the microsoft bandwagon now before you crash.
ps3 is the best and any one who says it stinks has mental problem
Tom, that’s a bit harsh. No-one should be hating anything. Yes, the PS3 is powerful, but will it’s gameplay match up to that of the Nintendo Wii and Xbox 360s?
I’m down for PS3 too. Playstations have always been good to me. :-)
Wow that’s a truly awful ad. Why does Sony have such a complete fear of showing their games? Seriously, show college kids playing games against each other around the world, singing together, video chatting, having fun. Why show a bunch of kids that are the completely wrong demographic for the PS3 awaiting a monolith? Somebody in Sony (a lot of somebodies actually) needs to be fired. Get this artsy crowd out of there – they’re destroying the company image. Reminds me of the white supremicist PSP ad they did earlier in the year (http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/message?board.id=psp&message.id=2321692) … just pointless…
wow… that was like… amazing or something… it should really appeal to the “I just love to bend over and take a nice fat one. Especially when it comes to rootkits, exploding batteries, no-rumble controllers, movie players masquerading as gaming consoles, emotion-enginig, mega-hyper-super-computing marvels that the pentagon won’t let us export because people could perform nuclear blast simulations” crowd that Sony really appeals to. Just look at the successful response they got from all these posters… simply brilliant.
No games worth playing? What are you smoking exactly?

Interesting comments coming from Richard. Mentioning the “poor” launch titles for the PS3. Just because Perfect Dark Zero was hyped…doesn’t make it a good game. The PS3 launch list is twice as good as the 360 launch. Plenty of great games from COD to Gundam to Resistance to Sonic….plenty of fun games, not to mention all of the sports games to go around. By the way, i’m a Nintendo fanboy to the fullest, but the truth is….is that the ONLY must have title for the Wii is zelda, and its the same game you can pick up for the Gamecube…. ………..weak Wii launch titles…….
>The PS3 launch list is twice as good as the 360 launch.
Twice the amount of crap is still a huge load of crap. Sonic? You’ve got to be kidding me.
The Wii has a few great launch titles. Interestingly, not all of them are from Nintendo. There’s Red Steel, Trauma Center, Elebits (which, while it may seem underwhelming to most gamers, is the game that made my girlfriend want a Wii), Wing Island, a new Super Monkey Ball, finally a 3D Sonic game which may not suck (which would pretty much be a first), Tony Hawk’s Downhill Jam and a Rayman game which looks pretty non-crappy. And these are just some of the third-party titles coming out for Nintendo’s Wii – I’m not even listing any Nintendo titles.
These are all novel, innovative, fun games. You can’t get any of these games on any other console. Frankly, to me, most PS3 games look like PS2 games with way better graphics. That’s great, but it’s not something that makes me want to run to the next game store and pay 600 bucks.
The bottom line is quite simply this: I’m not excited about the PS3. I *am* excited about the Wii. I’m not going to get a PS3 at launch. I *am* going to get a Wii at launch (if I can).
I thought the ad was very well made. And i don’t see no PS3 floating over those kids houses. Looks more like a space ship. I hate stupid people ~.~
PS3 = heaven
Plan on getting these titles on release date myself.
Resistance: Fall of Man
Call of Duty 3
Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Vegas
Ridge Racer 7
Mobile Suit Gundam: Crossfire
Genji: Days of the Blade
Fight Night: Round 3
Have oblivion on PC so don’t see getting that.
Have a GC so won’t be getting twilight princess on wii any time soon. Will wait and see if Mario galaxies is good.
