Wii pre-order announcement [Company website]

  • This for the most part is true. Bare in mind though that part of the rules informed customers that they had to be present at the store to check ID and collect the fifty dollars at the store. You have to be at the store at the very least…1 hour before it opens. Lastly….EB and Gamestop will not be taking anymore preorders for the duration of the pre-launch, I gathered this information from several stores in the EB and Gamestop department.

  • I arrived at my local Gamestop in Indiana at 8:00 a.m. and was the 1st one at the store. A few people arrived at 8:30 a.m. and then everyone else flooded in about 9:15 a.m. I talked to the store manager a day before hand and he said that they were only allocated 12 units. (which was the minimum) There were 14 people in line by 9:45a.m. when the store opened and all the units were spoken for right at store opening. There were a few hopefuls that stuck around praying for people’s plastic to get declined but they were eventually all turned away empty handed. I’d say probably 10 in all who left disappointed that morning before I left at 10:10 a.m. with that “Golden Ticket” in my hand. I am glad that I was first in line because the manager told me that if they were shorted on units on launch day then they would go in order of who reserved their Wii first and so on. Good luck to all who are still trying to get their paws on one because the Wii is the next freakin “Tickle me Elmo doll” when it comes to demand. The PS3 may have better graphics but graphics don’t make a game!!! It is very apparent to me which system is and always will be a Wii bit ahead of the competition!

  • duh every body knows that

  • yo adam actually i talked to several eb games and gamestop employees and they said nintendo made more then they thought so they are gonna do preorders again.

  • brendan: based on Nintendo’s estimate for launch consoles, I was surprised when I found out that my Gamestop had 12 (4 went to the employees) Wii preorders. I’m sure that Gamestop was offering their preorders based on the low end of the launch estimates. They don’t want to repeat the Xbox360 launch. By the way, there was 1 person in line at my Gamestop when I got there at 9:45. Since it is in suburban Chicago, I was shocked.
