Microsoft’s Xbox 360 HD DVD Drive Connects To PCs Via USB
by Raj Patel on October 18, 2006

Here’s some news about the HD DVD drive coming for the Xbox 360 that may justify that $200 price tag a little bit: It can connect to your PC via USB, allowing you to have an external HD DVD drive that can connect to your computer. That’s the good news. Now for the bad – Microsoft isn’t providing any kind of driver for the HD DVD drive, so you won’t be able to watch those HD DVDs on your PC. Since the HD DVD drive is manufactured by Toshiba, I’m guessing (along with everyone else), that some third party software developer will come up with an unofficial driver for it anyway, if enough people get their hands on the HD DVD drive. The drive is launching the same day as Playstation 3, November 17, so we’ll keep you updated until then.
