D900 is Samsung's one of the most successful phones and was the best selling phone of Winter 2006 / Spring 2007. Even though is a small entity has all the best of features that one can imagine. Came across something interesting on Samsung D900 at

Is there any way that a sofware can be downloaded to the d900 so that the whole display can be changed, instead of actually using the preset skins (black and white). And also, can it be upgraded?

Its true the texting is really bad if your used to nokias/SE. You have to first put a little tick by the persons name in the phonebook, then press options-> select. which takes you back to the sending screen, and instead of showing the persons name - it only shows their number so you cant be 100% you picked the right person. Its too long winded (badly designed). Its still a great handset though.

Looks lovely, seems lovely but it is really a dreadful piece of kit. The battery is hopeless. 40 minutes of calls, 10mins playing about trying to get the phone to do things other phones do and flat as a pancake in 36 hours. If you're texting and you want an apostrophe, on a Nokia it's three presses on '1'. On the D900 it is a multi-step process. You want to send the text? Two or three button presses on a Nokia but an obstacle course on the Samsung. So the user interface is awful. I can't find a way of making the alert tone for text messages any louder so I never hear when one has arrived. The ringtones and alert tones are awful but that might be Orange's doing. The camera is quite good if you can hold the camera still enough and mostly you can't. So it looks good. It's an expensive acccessory. A toy. But a crap phone. I've got a Samsung LCD telly too and the user interface on that is crap too. Good picture but I wouldn't buy another Samsung product on the grounds that it hasn't studied its users. You want an easy to use phone? Get a Nokia or Sony Ericsson. You want a decent LCD telly? Get a Philips or Panasonic or Sony or Toshiba

I've had mine for about 2 months now. Battery life is about 2 days. I too have the same messaging problem as GW and it seems like there's no way to save them automaticaly so you have to select "save & send" everytime.

[...] The ultra-slim Black Carbon from Samsung just winged its way to our FedEx box this morning, so I thought it might be nice to shoot a few photos before we do a formal review next week. I was very skeptical about this - the Trace was kind of silly - but the $399 Black Carbon, or Senor BC as we can call him, is very, very slim and very, very sexy. [...]

I too live in the U.S. and have been using the D900 now for about a month. .love the phone mostly though I wish the speaker was a bit louder. All the features are working save my outgoing test messages do not end up in the Sent box....I don't know why and would like to know if anyone knows how to remedy this. I have ascertained that receipients are getting text messages I send but I have no record of them.

Aside from the UI, is this obviously slimmer than last year's t809? From the outside, they look nearly identicle.

I live in the US, but I don't wait around for T-Mobile or Cingular to tell me what crappy phone I should be using. But then, I'm a phone junkie and get a new one almost every 2 months. Hey! Everyone needs a hobby right?

I've had the D900 for a few months myself. I got it after using the X820 (yet another brilliant Samsung phone) and its really a good phone. I put it away for a while to use my new KRZR K1, but as pretty as the K1 is, it just doesn't compare with this phone.
I love the UI and the ease of use. I don't like that you can't make your own message tones though, but you can't have everything :^)

I got the D900 import online a couple of months ago. Its a really attractive phone with a pretty good camera. It is very slim and light, but feels solid. The sound quality is just average though. I still like it a lot.
