Stratellite Completes First Flight Test

A subsidiary of GlobalTel Communications Corp has confirmed that it has successfully flown a blimp that they hope will one day be able to beam broadband internet to the cities below. This idea has been tossed around as a new solution to bringing broadband to the masses for a while now, but it appears that the idea has finally taken off (pun intended).

The flight wasn’t much more than a simple flight test to make sure it could actually get off the ground, but over the next 90 days, GlobalTel plans to add different systems and functions to the blimp. After each addition, the engineers will make sure that it’s still working properly and in the end, we should have a blimp floating 12-13 miles above major cities in the near future.

  • #1- The actual airship is called a stratellite, but the only way to describe what they have shown floated is a blimp.
#2- The test was not to see if it could get off the ground- it was to stress test the frame
#3 It is misleading to use the picture you have used because the actual ship that floated was very different then what has been explained it will look like.

It is a very disappointing event. The Sans II is is a huge embarasement. It was suppose to be comparable to the SansI airship and much larger. It is not only much SMALLER, compaired to SANSI it is nothing more then a balloon. This obviously is just a way to get the public believing the program is moving forward because anyone that is familiar with this project knows this is a HUGE step BACKWARDS

  • Beware naysayers in this tech like the above poster..This company & its stock are subject to market manipulators and other attempts to supress this technology. Watch out for big telco…
