We have had the xbox 360 for a little over a year. It's been to Microsoft twice, once in April and gain just now. We have never used the intercooler (bunch of crap that Microsoft blames it), considering getting rid of it and going back to Playstation. It's pretty bad when you get to use it for only 6 months out of the year. They sent us a free month of xbox live the first time, that has also gone to waste, being it died in the middle of it. So, not only did we waste 400.00 + on the machine, now were wasting our money paying for xbox live which we can't use becaue it takes 8 weeks to get the box back......

Is your 360 self modded with luiquid colling?
Are you just extremely stupid?
The Xbox 360 does NOT come with liquid cooling inside!
There is a HEATPIPE on the processor but a heatpipe is just copper that helps release heat. There is in no way liquid cooling in the machine. The machine also runs at aprox 90-135degrees. No where near 80. I have seen some nice self modded Xbox 360s on Youtube that have self-setup liquid cooling machines hooked up to them and they do run at about 76-90degrees.

My first XBOX 360 pro - system gave me the " red rings of death " after just one month - My new black ELITE system died after just 9 months. Both of these problems occuring with out the help of the intercooler, which I was considering buying ( before reading these posts ) to prevent further problems - I have been waiting for 2 and a half months for the store where I bought it from to have it replaced - it seems there is a shortage due to problems - how convenient! Now I'm not saying the Intercooler hasn't caused problems, but I'm pretty sure that XBOX 360's everywhere were dying long before this product came out - come on Microsoft, either sort out the heating issues or bring out your own damn cooling unit! The ELITE system was supposed to have the redesigned motherboard, well here's a news flash - it still isn't cutting it!

Wow... After reading some of these comments, I'm kind of suprised at some of you.

Had my Xbox for about... 5 months now, and I suspect I have the new 'Falcon' chip... However, my friend told me about the Nyko intercooler, Well, I got it. Some of you are saying you got the rrod... but I don't believe that, especially whoever said they got it on day 2. Now, I don't believe that because I don't think you payed enough attention. Are you sure it wasn't all 4 rings that were lit up? If so, this means you either don't have a completely AC or AV connection.

As for the noise, it's no louder than any other fan you would get, right? If you are using a box fan, the box fan is much louder (obviously). Now, the noise that just started to happen to Ashley... that is a Intercooler defect. This is caused by one of the fans inside the intercooler crapping out for lack of better words.

It happened to my first one, and I gladly replaced it. For free. Nyko does back their products 100%.

Anyways, back to my Xbox and cooler. No problems what-so-ever. All 5 months, perfectly fine (besides needing to replace the cooler once). If you keep the cooler clean though, and don't take it off and on all the time, it should work just fine.

And, Just like M$, Nkyo updated their product. Now, with the newer ones, the AC stays connected well, which eliminates the electrical arch you get when the AC gets to loose. Which is what causes the scorching.

So, to wrap it all up, the product is great for cooling the console. However, they have a short lifespan (the cooler), but Nyko will replace free of charge. AND I talked to a Nyko rep, and if it does damage your Xbox, guess what... Nyko will replace your XBOX with a brand new one.

There is no reason to think it causes the Rrod, unless you are a neglectful owner. Either way, your Xbox will get replaced if it ever bricks.

Nyko owns.

Guys the only reason it scorches is because the power cable is heavy and slowly pulls the power connection out, you can easily fix this by supporting the power cable onto something to keep it level with the power port, this will keep the weight of the cable from pulling down on the connector leaving it in. The reason it gives the red lights is because the parts arent getting the correct power when the plug starts to come out, making the system think its having a hardware failure.

THE PLUG DOES NOT FIT. Got an X-box for X-mas today 2007. The Intercooler adapter and the X-box plug do not fit. There seems to be a small black extra piece of plastic in the Intercooler so that the female end of the X-box plug cannot fit into the male end of the Intercooler. Anyone else have this problem.
OH, BTW, after reading all the shitty reviews, I'm taking the Intercooler back to Wal-Mart and buying the Pelican that runs off the USB. Seems that Microsoft and Nyko did not have a lot of engineering communication when making this product. I'd like to see the top two jackasses from each company who were overseeing this product's collaboration between the two companies. Bill Gates, What the F*@! ...? Great information on this.

The problem is that when the xbox 360 is running for an extended amount of time the cooler overheats and melts the part of the adapter that fits into the power plug-in, sometimes resulting in the power adapter burning out. The red lights mean your not getting enough power. change or clean existing adapter and all is fine.

I got my 360 at launch I have had no issues and play the hell out of it. Maybe yours is overheating because you are running it at 1080p all day and your console dying is a sign you need to get some fresh air and enjoy real life. The 360 is water cooled. There is a copper tube on the heatsink that is filled with water that boils and condenses bringing heat away from the CPU. Long live Microsoft and the Xbox. People who accuse micrsoft of being crooks are stupid. If you had a corp. you would want it to make money too. Remember if you dont like it your the person who bought it so go get a PS3 and play gay games like ratchet and clank instead of badass ones like HALO3!

I have a 360 and my intercooler from nyko keeps shorting out. i mean for crying out loud. the intercooler in brand spakin new and the power plug keeps falling out. i say jsut go buy a can of compressed air and clean out you 360 everyonce in a while to keep the dust from caking up on your heat sinks. nyko blows. if microsoft was so concerned about these 360s over heating. why wont they put they logo and a cooler. they know more about their own product and should just make a cooler for them

Question for the former Nyko users:

When it was attached, was your 360 pluged directly into a power socket? Or was it pluged into a multiple power socket board?

I am just thinking that it would run much better without all the problems if it was just drawing power from one seperate place, away from all the other crap you might have running in your gaming area (TV, lamp, digital clock, etc etc).

My console is overheating after about 1-2 hours of play but it really depends. I am considering the intercooler, as Mass Effect is coming out in like 2 weeks so I don't want to send it in for 6 weeks for repairs. (I'm not a very patient person I know!) But I'd really appreciate any advice from you guys.

I bought one of the newer versions of the intercooler (the EX, no power switch, turns on and off with the system). Anyway it worked great for at least 4 months with none of the fusing problems I've heard about. However about a month ago when i turned on the system it will 50% of the time make a loud brrrrrrrr...... noise upon turning on rather then the normal whir noise. I'm taking it off of the system and praying I haven't ruined my system by using it. I got it originally because of how hot my discs were when I ejected them out of the system, but It never overheated. Has anyone else had this problem and for the intercooler-use at your own risk I guess.
