Nintendo Wii Revelation Coming
by Raj Patel on October 30, 2006

For everyone planning on purchasing a Nintendo Wii next month, it seems like there is more good news coming our way. There’s been a rumor floating around that Nintendo of America President, Reggie Fils-Aime, told GameSpot,

There will be another big Wii revelation around launch time.

GamePro confirmed the rumor a few days ago, but no one has any idea what the Wii announcement will actually entail. Seeing as how Reggie stated that it would be a “big” revelation, it very well may be spec related. Or maybe it might be something small, like a microphone built into the Wiimote. There’s no date on when the announcement will come, but there is only a few weeks until launch.

  • WHERE CAN I PREORDER THIS?

  • Well we know it’s not going to be a DVD player, seeing as on various accounts they have said you could just go down to a garage sale and buy one for 10 bucks. Im thinking something around the Wii-mote or another channel, maybe a media (music, movies etc…) channel? It probably won’t be specs of the Wii seeing as they have already relased it.

  • Well it can’t be that big. Cause that could cause some problums

  • Maybe they’re dropping the price to $199. Sales would shoot through the roof since everyone has already warmed up to the idea of a $249 pricetag.

  • Hell YEAH!!! I cant wait until the real specs or whatever this “big” revelation be announce.

    GO WIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I don’t think they would drop the price for two reasons: 1) A lot of people have already pre-ordered this system and to lower the price now would cause a relations issue between the retailers and Nintendo, and 2) Nintendo is out to make as much money as possible so would dropping your system $50 increase sales during Christmas? No. The system is going to sell out regardless so why cheat yourself out of millions of dollars?

The system has already been tested and is in production so sorry folks, the Wii is going to have graphics similar to the original Xbox (which is way I think it is misleading to advertise it as a next-gen system because it is not. I’m wondering if there will be complaints by people who didn’t do their research…come on there are always a bunch!..expecting it to look as good as the 360 or PS3).

The only thing that I could think of is an extra of some sort such as a free game or headset for online play. Now that I think about it, I would put my money on some free virtual console game downloads to increase consumer interest in online play and paying for VC games.

  • Kmach. your off. Nintendo is generating buzz again thats all. keeping things fresh with the system. the last thing they want is for people to start to lose interest right before launch. I do remember a while back right after E306 that satoru iwata said something about ONE BIG suprise about the wii being left. But we never really heard from it and the roumer sort of died out after a while. He did say it was big though, so you just never know with these guys.

To be honest though, the best thing they could possibally do is upgrade the games visual graphics and sounds, that would put an absolute lock on the competition right now.

They wont though, :-( not a chance, most likely they will come up with some thing crazy that none of us are going to think of… Possibally another free thing that comes with the system, attachments to the wii-mote to enhance the experience… Baseball looks a little hard to swing with such a short “Bat”. Who the hell knows. NOT ME!

  • >which is way I think it is misleading
    >to advertise it as a next-gen system
    >because it is not.

Do you realize what “next-gen” actually means? It quite simply means “new version.”

And arguably, the Wii is the only console actually bringing anything new to the table.

My money is on another channel.

  • It was never mentioned as next gen anyway, they have gone on record multiple times as calling it “new-gen”. I wouldn’t be surprised if eventually it could do maybe 720p as the original xbox was capable, it just needed a bit more memory, which the Wii definitely has. I think it’ll be something to do with the menu, as there is still a lot of this to be explained.

  • You can purchase Virtual Boy games….that has to be it…

  • They haven’t released the specs yet for some reason. So there’s a good chance of it being spec related.

  • Ive played the Wii already and its specs arent half bad. So my guess is something to do with the menu/channels.

  • this is goin 2 be tthe best system

  • When will the next shipment come out for the wii? Is it reasonable to think I could get one for Christmas?
