This is not a problem with the Xbox it is a problem with the TV. The TV does not accept 1080p through component cables due to a limitation in the Analog/digital converter in the TV. The SONY LCD TV’s cannot accept higher than 1280×720 through VGA either.
Check the owners manual.

Actually it looks like it should work on VGA according to the chart on p51 of the Owner manual (the HDTV setting of 1920×1080 67.5Hz Horizontal by 60Hz Vertical) – Anyone been able to try 1080p with the Fall update?
If it’s displaying but cutting off the picture in 1080p, that would suggest that the frequency setting isn’t matching.
Sorry Kid – Nothing wrong with your 360 your TV was made by a poop company thats all – Sony’s reliability lately is in the toilet –
They shall vaio down to Wii360 hahaha
I have the exact same problem with my mitsubishi 1080p tv
does anyone know why this isn’t working?
your gay and your comments are gay, i hope you choke to death on your own saliva
Hee hee quite funny my good man. Amused me anyway, especially the very last line.
its the tv first of all, secondly the only people having problems with update are people that flashed(modded) their firmware on their dvd drives… goto http://www.xbox-scene.com to read up on it and how to fix the issue… also you are gay, i wish people like you would never be able to make such useless posts on the internet it wasted an entire 30 seconds of my life, and now it is wasting another 30 seconds of my life, i hate you
if your 3shitty doesnt brick. arent they a software company hopefully vista wont blow up your computer like it will with your pockets.
Streetracer072 – I’m having the same prob on my Mitsubishi too. When I look in the back, it doesn’t say 1080p on the component output so maybe component doesn’t allow 1080p support, though if that’s the case that would be stupid for Microsoft to offer this when Component is the only HD cables that you can really get for the XBOX 360.
Bret – before you make points about people not reading a manual you might want to read it yourself. Nothing irks me more than some idiot throwing information around as fact without reading.
Erick – You’re a retard. The TV isn’t crap it’s one of the nicer TV’s available on the market. I’m sorry you’re not able to afford one so that you feel the need to complain.
Gay – You’re an idiot. The update bricked more than modder’s consoles. Before you start making comments as facts do your research. Just because you’re gay doesn’t mean you can be a damn moron
I am also having problems on my xbox 360 not being able to display 1080p on my 1080p Mitsubishi TV. I know some people say its cause people are modding there 360, But my 360 isnt modded. Also in my tv manual it says component dosnt support 1080p. Only my DVI and HDMI ports supports 1080p. Once again Microsoft SUCK ASS.
You can run 1080p through HDMI only.
Wrong. You can run 1080p through components. Movies however are diplayed at 1080i because of copyright issues. Movies at 1080p can be played through HDMi because of the copy-protetcion in the HDMi cables.
So say, if you wanna play your 360 at 1080p with component cables, it’s perfectly fine to do so, unless you have a TV such as that Sony Bravia.
Fortunately my shiny new Samsung doesn’t have that problem. =)
my 360 elite is not working right with my mitsubishi tv on 1080p and should does anybody have an answer?
