You know quite honestly, the Wii is innovative but and I mean but…I wrote this sometime ago; Its a kid game. Sure you can get other games for it and sure some people want to go retro, but take a look around you and see ust how many retro cars there are out there. And I mean older. not the new cars that look like the old versions and have a significant upgrade. The Wii is a light bit more powerful than the PS2 if that. Now about my kid comment…The idea of jumping around and all that while playing a game is certainly good but its just a trend. It may encourage sales in the beginning but I know from my standpoint…I wont want to keep jumpin around to play a game. Thats what the gym and club are for. I wanna sit back have a beer or soda, set it on the table and play. It doesn’t look all that fly if I’m jumpin all over the place but then again Im a guy. Im not into “cute”. Oh but wait…Im the largest demographic for video game purchases. That dedicated little group that spends their hard earned paychecks on games. You know like the likes of EA…sportsgames, Tonyhawk, MGS4, Gran Tourismo, Killzone, Halo, Parasite Eve, Resident Evil, Warcraft (well me Command and Conquer), and the list goes on. Im not gonna be dancin’ around to each of these games. Golf..it was said to me might be cool…but after a hards days work…I’m not gonna act like Im puttin on a course when I could be out on the course. I dunno…I like the thought and if I had kids I would buy it for them…but for me…Nope. One of my buddies will have it, i’ll play it, it will find its way into a cardboard box real fast, and be sold on craigslist or at a garage sale. PS3…well blu ray movies…networking, etc. And no Im no fanboy. just sayin it as i C it.

The Gamecube was more powerful than the PS2. It was just under utilized. Look it up. Also, you don’t have to jump around to play almost all the games. Acctualy, a lot of people are saying it’s too sensitive.

Your PS3 points…. read up on stuff first. The 360 has HD-DVD(for 200$ more 500-600)= Blu-Ray, Networking..ect.

YOUR A FANBOY

Gamecube outpowers the PS2 by quite a bit… Ussually there are a few Sony fanboys that actually ‘laugh’ at me when I say that. Yes seriously, there are fanboys fanboyish enough to actually mock me when I state the obvious fact that Gamecube is more powerful than PS2. ANYWAYS!

While you’re sitting back and having a beer playing your new rpg, I’ll be inviting some buddies over and having drinking games with my wii. Personally I enjoyed the games on my gamecube much more than on my PS2. The PS2 did have a few more games that I enjoyed, but the games that I enjoyed on my Gamecube were able to keep my interest for not just weeks, like Final Fantasy X and Metal Gear Solid III did, but for years, like Super Smash Brothers Melee and Super Monkey Balls II did. Probably my favorite game in recent memory would also have to go to RE4 which started off as a GC exclusive.

If I can afford it, I’d probably like to own both consoles, but until they fix that price and bring it to a reasonable sub-$300 price, I’m going to just buy a wii. I like party games, I like inviting people over to my house to play games and drink and all that. I ussually have a girl or two in on the action, but it’s difficult to keep their attention since they ussually get frustrated with not understanding the controller and remaining non-competitive. If the wii fixes that, I’m all for getting away from the sausage fest. You’ll probably also notice that it’s alot easier to get girls to play DDR vs Tekken. Nintendo is onto something, it’s not for everyone, but I applaud the movement.

Having played the Wii, i have to say that the controller is very sensitive and you do not need to make massive movements and gestures to utilize the controller that said however, Wii sports and Twilight Princess just dont feel the same unless you just let go and really get into the movements, as for the graphics on the Wii you can look at online videos and screenshots until your blue in the face but you really do have to see it first hand to truley see what the console is capable off. As for Janus’ comment about the Wii being just “just a trend” in 2004 when Nintendo anounced the DS with it’s touch screen and microphone people said that would be just a trend that wouldn’t last next to the power of the PSP. but wi th free WI-Fi connectivity great games, new games that couldn’t be found on any other platorm, games that appealed to a new audience nintendogs, brain training, etc.., a stylish look (DS lite) the DS is currently the biggest selling console outselling the PSP on an almost 5-1 basis. Now back to the Wii again Nintendo are doing the same thing basing thier console around new experiences and gameplay with graphics taking a back seat. Wii has games that appeal to everyone from your hardcore gamer to casual gamer and even non gamer, the Wii channels offer better connectivity and appeal to your console than ever before, Metroid Prime 3, Resident Evil umbarella chronicles, final fantasy, Legend of Zelda, Excite Truck, Gran Tourismo Pro series. Wii has a massive catalogue of games and if you include all of your gamecybe software playable on Wii that means the Wii will have more playable software than any other machine. Nintendo haven’t had 2 much success with N64 and GC both suffering, but with the DS and Wii together Nintendo is back to take round 3 to the dogs and both mcrosoft and Sony can feel Nintendos presance, now more than ever.

I just played on Wii today, playing Wii Tennis.

At Big Boys Toys in Auckland, New Zealand (annual event).
I just had to go when I heard that you would be able to play Wii.

Funny thing is when I first played (a game) the PS3 it asked me to press X somewhere, and it wouldn’t respond when I do!
later it was fine.

Wii was fun, PS3 has a lite controller!

Can’t wait ’till Zelda!
