Sony has admitted that the PlayStation 3 has problems with PlayStation 2 games. The problem is with both old and new PS2 games, including the Final Fantasy series. So far, the PS3 is having problems displaying menus and displaying graphics without freezing. There is a software update coming for users who planned on playing newly released PS2 games like Final Fantasy XII on their PS3s. I know more than a handful of people who sold their PS2s to have enough money to purchase a PlayStation 3. There are going to be a lot of pissed off people if Sony doesn’t release a fix for its new console soon. It’s not all Sony though, Microsoft also faced a similar problem last year with its Xbox 360, though the problem was fixed fairly quickly. Lets hope things get all patched by next week.

Didn’t some of the first generation PS2 consoles have problems play PS1 games? I think I heard that when I was at my local gaming spot about used video console. They warned that some games would not play on PS2 consoles.
With the 360 though, Microsoft was and still is controlling what orginal xbox games could be played on the new console. I’ve never had a problem with my 360. I do know that the list of games that could be played was kinda on the small side when the 360 fist came out, but the did explain the list quite a bit.
