Hi Miles! You probably had a problem with “Uplink” rather than “downlink”. Your cellphone bars only indicate the incoming (downlink) signal strength not the outgoing (uplink) connection. Therefore, if your cell phone shows plenty bars, you are most likely having a problem with your outgoing signal strength. The ways to deal with this are to (a)try different positioning of the external antenna or (b) Consider upgrading the external antenna to a directional antenna such as the YX029.

I installed the zboost YX500 for my verizon cell phone and it boosted by signal from 0-1 bars to 4 (max), but I can’t make a call. Any thoughts?

I’m very happy with the zBoost. Went from -98 to 100 dBs in house to -78 or so. This is wonderful. Cable internet is now gone and so is the old Ma Bell phone. YAY.

Nov 2007….just bought house in area where Cingular reps came out &said no reception and nothing we could do. Neighbors bought one and had to pay someone to install this wiring thru out house to upstairs window .
This is $$$ ….so are u still satisfied???
please help. winter coming!!

I’ll vouche! I love, love, love zBoost! I’m in college and I live in a old apartment with concrete walls and floors. I could NEVER get service. I got so tired of standing on my bed or huddled up against the window that I changed my service from Cingular to Spring thinking it was the service. I had the exact same problem with my new phone! I didn’t even know that signal booster devices exsisted. My parents were getting really mad about not being able to ever get in touch with me so they did some research and found the ZBoost. I hooked it up the easy way because 1. I’m lazy and because 2. I can’t really rig something to the roof of my apartment. I just put the antenna where I get the most service in my apt (top of a window sill) and no joke, I had gained like 2 more bars instantly. Its so great not having to only call people from the road and always getting texts and voice mails. I would definately recommend this product to anyone in a similar situation.
