Get A PlayStation 3 On Black Friday
by Raj Patel on November 22, 2006

The PlayStation 3 has been getting pummeled this week. Personally, I really don’t feel it’s that bad of a console. When Xbox 360 first launched, it really only had one good game: Perfect Dark Zero. PlayStation 3 faces the same predicament with Resistance: Fall of Man. Sure, there are problems with the interface and with Buy-Ray playback, but the console hasn’t even been out for a freakin’ week. As much as I love Xbox 360, I feel it’s proper to give PlayStation 3 a little bit of time before we start judging it so heavily.

With that being said, if you’re still yearning to get your hands on a PlayStation 3, you may be in luck. Kotaku is reporting that stores will be selling PS3s in stock on Black Friday, so if you really want one, grab a sleeping bag and get in front of a retailer as soon as you finish dessert. If you’re in the fight for a Wii, you also may be in luck. Rumors have been floating around stating Best Buy has been sitting on a shipment of Wii, and won’t start selling them until Black Friday. Good luck out there, it’s going to be on crazy day.

  • I haven’t heard of the PS3 having problems with Blu-Ray playback. Where did you hear that from? I got one from Toys R Us on launch day with a pre-order and I haven’t had one problem with it, including Blu-Ray playback. Can you describe the problem? Also, you are right on the money about giving the PS3 time before we start judging it to hard.

  • On the flip side, this is also the launch of a console that has been delayed twice to give themselves time to get ready. As this was a hardware delay, and not a software delay then you would assume the software should of been ready to go a year a go. Looking at it though, it would appear as if it was thrown together in a few months along with an online service that offers nothing more than some webpages and an online store. Didn’y they learn anything from the year they had to watch MS’s software evolve? Also what’s up with this PS3 as computer crap? Who wants to browse the web on their TV? Doesn’t anyone remember WebTV and how much it sucked? Until the PS3 can figure out what it wants to be besides a trojan horse for Blue-ray, there is little to no chance I’m getting one. This article is right. Hold of and wait to see if Sony can finally get itself together. I’m not holding my breathe though.

  • Hold your horses there Praxis. Like Kakuto wrote, we have to wait before we start judging the PS3. In my opinion, the PS3 is saving lots of money. Despite the system costing $599 it has alot of advantages over the Xbox 360. With the Xbox 360 you have to buy a Xbox 360 HD DVD for $199, just to watch dvd’s in high definition. Also you have to buy a $99 dollar network adapter just to play on Xbox Live, along with an $70 intercooler to decrease a chance of the console frying up. All of that together cost more than the PS3 its-self. And no Sony isn’t trying to make PS3 a computer, it already is one.

  • playstation 3s suck gamers like u will always be virgins

  • OK all. I own a PS3 and I have been reading articles for the past week and I am surprised to hear some of the comments. With all new gaming platforms it takes developers quite a while to get aclimated with new systems. Currently if you are in the software development world, which I am yu would understand that all the games for the PS3 are ported from games developed for the x-box. So besides Resistance you are just playing a 360 game. Where the PS3 will eventually shine is when the game programmes start to utilize the other 70% of the processing power of the system that they havn’t tapped yet. Xbox 360 will have to upgrade to Xbox 720(New System) to compete with that. So when it comes to protecting your investment, you are better off with the PS3 hands down. I would also like to clear things up for the NON PS3 owners, the online gamming is OFF THE HOOK. There is a gaming network and you can connect with your cellphone blue tooth headset and talk to all the other gamers as you play. In resistance they have rooms of players up to 40 people, All I hear from the 360 owners is that they don’t know what they are going to do with their 360’s except use it for Halo. I really don’t care either way but this is the buzz through the PS3 gaming network, which is absolutly free. Another feature of the online gaming network for PS3 that I like is that Anytime I switch on my PS3 and hit the network all of my Friends are instanlty notified that I am somewhere in that network and they can, figure out where I am at, what room I am in and join me to battle it out. I am writing this article because I am a little confused as to why nobody has mentioned Sony’s free gaming network. My assumption is that most of these reviewers havn’t had the pleasure of actually getting on it yet. Ohh - one other note - As I am playing on the Sony network I always hear the Xbox 260 owners saying that the Sony Network is extremly smooth and does not stutter like Microsofts Live network. I just wanted to state a few facts that are unknown.

  • You think game devs are excited at the prospect of investing 10-20 million per game to sell to the SAME group of hardcore gamers that they used to sell games that only cost $2 mil to make? Get real….none of my friends in the industry are happy about the rushed advent of the PS3. Prepare to eat lots of rehashes and ports for a while.

  • i think kids like us would like it but it can effect our life.you think games devs are exiding at the prospect of investing 10-30 per games to sell.

  • this games can be distracting to people.\

  • can someone please tell me how much the ps3 will be on black friday, if you know the answer itll b highly appreciated!!!
