BlackBerry Gives Cingular A Pearl Necklace

Previously limited only to T-Mobile, the BlackBerry Pearl will soon rear its head on that other GSM provider, Cingular. The fancy pants Pearl is the first candybar from BlackBerry.
It features all the features you’ve come to love from BB, in a sexy phone body. I’ve played around with a couple of them so far and I’m definitely a fan. The camera side of the phone looks particularly attractive.
The BlackBerry Pearl is currently in prelaunch mode and available only to Cingular Premier customers. It’s going for $579.99 or $179.99 with a two year contract. That nearly $600 price tag is wholly baffling to me.

Does anyone know if the Blackberry Pearl will work just with the Cingular’s MediaNet plan instead of signing up for The BlackBerry Connect?

This is horrible, but do you realize what a ‘pearl necklace’ is? If you do, you’ll understand why i almost collapsed with laughter reading this post title….
