Apple has filed a new patent application for a method of browsing podcasts. It’s patent 20060265637, Utilization Of Podcasts on Portable Media Devices.
ZDNet has a bunch of pictures of arrows and squiggly lines if you want to go check them out for yourself.

You’d think they would have thought of this a long time ago…*shrug*
Uh, my iPod has had a “Podcasts” menu for over a year now. The patent application might just be coming through, but this isn’t a new feature, from what I can tell.
Now that I look at my iPod, I realize that “podcasts” have been there for a long time…
The iPod has had a “Podcasts” menu ever since the 4th generation iPod Photo/iPod Color screen models…
Notice the pictures say “iPodcast” not “Podcast.” I wonder if the change is so Apple can successfully patent it without a prior use argument.
Interesting. I wondering what is the value proposition in this patent. Oh wait, everyone want’s a piece of the iPod sales. So maybe it is worth for Apple to patent everything fom the smartest to the most stupid thing…

thats a bit rubbish (for want of a better word) as you can already put podcasts on MP3s anyway…
What more could a guy want.
It is amazing how Apple puts it all together so nicely- so elegant and functional.
Wish Linux could get its act together like this.

the overall interface needs quite a bit of work. being able to customize it more would be a great feature. being able to customize the Now Playing screen to show whatever tag info you want…. such as the song’s rating so you can just glance at the screen to see what it is. also the year, etc.
maybe the it means you can browse wirlessly (’i'podcasts)
Maybe it means you can browse wirelessly? (’i'podcasts) ;) ;)
