CamelBak and Skullcandy Team Up For Some Backpack Convergence

CamelBak, makers of all thing CamelBaky, have teamed up with Skullcandy for some serious backpack convergence with the M.U.L.E. SC10. The hydration bladder packs your liquid of choice, while Skullcandy pitched in with some iPod and phone controls. Simply plug your gadgets into a secret stash, and buttons built into the strap let you navigate your tracks and take calls. The neatest part, of course, is the built-in speaker system–so you don’t have to actually listen to nature the next time you go camping. I tried an early prototype of this thing while hanging with some guys I know at CamelBak a few months ago, and it seemed pretty neat. It should hit shelves at bike and camping shops in spring of ‘07. No word on the exact price yet, but you can bet it’ll be more than your JanSport.

  • Wow this is great, I’m surprised Camelbak took this long but it looks fantastic.

  • So is this marketed to the “geek-wannabe-redneck” or the “redneck-wannabe-geek”? I have a feeling the Nike CORE will do much better…

  • Well, Nike IS a slightly larger company than Skullcandy. I think its gonna be marketed as an ultra-niche product–who knows how many of these things they’ll even run off the assembly line? Either way, little birdies suggest that this will be the first product in an ongoing relationship between the two companies, which could lead to way-cool things.

  • I don’t really see this as a “redneck” product. I personally see alot of extreme sports enthusiasts picking this up as it has a bit of an edge to it.

  • Why work with camelbak, they should work with a company like drink hydration. This company will work more with you and offer better customer service.

  • How anyone can consider this a “redneck” product must be a real city slicker. Ha ha. A Camelback is a truly necessary item in our area where cows on the trail rule and mountain biking would be no fun at all with bike mounted bottles. I think the shop I work at might stock a couple next year.

  • I personally can’t deal with hydration bladders. Get a nalgene!

  • I have had one of these for one season, I use it when I am aggressively snowboarding, I have taken a few spills, and the headfone jack for the ipod has failed it seems to be a weak link with this pack. I am currently playing hell trying to get it repaired.

  • this is cool bag. i like it. where is buy it?
