Reader Response Week One

Greetings all, I’m glad to see you’ve taken to commenting more frequently. We’ve already awarded a brand new iPod Shuffle, but as I said before, that was just the beginning. We’re really just getting started with our commenter appreciation series.

So here’s the deal for next week. Next Friday, as in one week from today, we will be giving away a Samsung Blackjack. It will go to the most significant commenter between now and then. Now I don’t necessarily mean the person who comments the most, I mean the person who contributes the most to the site. That said, someone who makes 100 comments might get usurped by a person who makes a few clever comments.

To enter, all you have to do is comment and enter your email address. The winner will be announced next Friday around noon.

We’ll also be announcing on Monday a bunch of prizes from M2 Solutions, so be sure to check back then for further details.

How fitting as I was just researching online last night whether or not this could be my replacement to the ailing loved yet hated Treo 650.

For those of you that have the Treo, I’m sure you know what I mean. It has a great feature of rebooting about 5 times a day, yet the touchscreen, battery life, and overall simplicity of the Palm OS to get your tasks done on a daily basis is unmatched. I’ve been a treo loyalist since the 300, but always wished for more. The 680 is a joke of an upgrade, and the 750 for Cingular now looks like mid 2007?

I didn’t want to spend $400 on this phone, let’s see how lucky I am :)

I think a lot of readers are still confused on the commenting system.

Do you just want us to comment more (which invites crap comments, e.g. “I

Cool. I’ve been looking at these, but the price scares me. Plus it would be my first ’smart’ anything…no kidding, I have a tracfone and a memo pad complete with half sized pencil! Plus ‘Blackjack’ is just a badass name.

i was at the cingular store testing out the samsung blackjack. i almost got it but instead i got the treo 680. i think most people miss the point when determining which pda/phone is better. if you compare the blackjack and the 680, hands on the blackjack has more features that it will win. the camera alone is no comparison.

i think most people buy the gear they want based on their needs. i love samsung phones and i have an unlocked samsung D500 which i use when i don’t want to carry my treo 650. i upgraded to a 680 and gave my old 650 to my sister.

i want a pda with a touchscreen and the treo 680 has a touchscreen which the blackjack doesn’t. my needs are simple. i want a pda that is not windows based. blackjack uses a microsoft based os.

the blackjack is great… but i love my treo.

I hope i can unlock this phone. I heard from someone with a treo 650 that the blackjack got poor service, drop calls and bad connections. Anyone hear different?

Peter: Personally, I’d be a fan of the 680. Sure it’s not as full-featured, but they’ve finally figured out that the smartphone fat-antenna look is so 1990s!

brklyn: Didn’t the FCC just pass a law mandating phone unlocking for customer movement between carriers (i.e. Cingular & T-Mobile), so why wouldn’t you be able to unlock?
