Windows Vista Gets First TV Spot

What is it with companies making bad commercials lately? Here comes another one, this time courtesy of Redmond.

It’s the new Vista TV spot. Notice that it doesn’t actually contribute anything to our knowledge of the OS.

I figure if you really want to showcase a product like Vista you should actually, you know, show the product. Meh.

The first ever Microsoft Vista commercial no where near “Get a Mac” ads [Newlaunches]

This looks more like a thrown together pitch ad by an advertising agency hoping to land Microsoft as a client. I find it hard to believe that Microsoft would release this. I call foul.

this ad does nothing for me… i’m a dedicated PC (and somewhat microsoft) guy, and earlier today i was watching the apple ads… compared to them, this just sucks… it doesnt promote anything… and after using vista rtm for the past few weeks, all i can say is “meh”… ;)

I think that music is some version of “Jump Around” by House of Pain. My favorite are the helpful captions: “A significant new business opportunity.” It might be an ad for resellers.

This is not a consumer advertisement. As mentioned, probably to be used at one of the partner launch events (last few frames show ‘Partner Opportunity’). Showing things like XBox, mobility, etc.. it actually makes a lot of sense because it refers to all the ways partners can use it.

Also, not even Microsoft could afford 1:43 TV advertising slots. Hang tight, the consumer stuff is pretty good.

Sounds like they are trying to pitch resellers and microsoft integrators, not consumers. Cheesy music, and what’s with the guy jumping sideways?

I’m a devoted PC user, but this ad actually makes me consider mac..

The intro is cool but it goes downhill after that. I have to agree with everyone else that judging by the content, this media placement is destined for a partner/integrator audience rather than consumers. Their consumer ads are going to have to be really great.

I like the Mac ads…but the concept is wearing out.
