I really wonder how long the Market will continue to bear this seemingly endless-supply of RAZRs? At some point, and I'm guessing pretty soon, you will see the RAZR behind the counter at a gas station for $20 as a pre-paid phone. I think Motorola has overplayed their hand, and, just like those songs on the radio which started out and stayed in heavy-rotation, we will all cringe at the thought of using a RAZR.

This once-high-end phone will soon become a garage-sale fodder.

I feel sorry for the business execs who paid upwards of $400 for the phone when it was being pushed as a luxury good.

Well, my wife's original V3 razr from cingular just crapped out. What do you know... right at 1 year 14 days. That's right, out of warranty!

It wouldn't hold a charge for more than 2 short phone calls, and would have strange screen freezes.

I had the monthly insurance from Cingular, $50 co-pay later, they sent us a new one. Although at this point, I wonder if I was better off buying a new phone??

"What would a day on CrunchGear be like without reports of another rendition of the timeworn Motorla RAZR?"

I don't know...seriously, it hasn't happened. ;)

I imagine that they keep developing new versions because the carriers now give them away free/cheap with a new contract. The RAZR changed the percetption of Motorola from an "eh" manufacturer to the hottest phone designers out there, and I doubt they have any interest in letting their former flagship (since the KRZR came out, anyway) leave the spotlight.

So like a 50 year old hair band, they just keep touring well after they should have hung it up.

Free bird!
