Question: Was the review for the $599 InFocus IN72 or the $2999 InFocus IN76? It is not as much of a "deal" if the latter.

First off, I love that you people think we get paid by anyone (except of course CG) to say anything. I wish. I've heard that bullshit from readers for years and it's just not true.
Second, Crackhammer, I never said the Pentax was an outstanding camera. Nor did I say that there aren't better still cameras out there that take better video. All I said was that it got me to change the way I felt about compact point-and-shoot cameras being used for video, which the Pentax does very well btw, and thanks to DivX, it stores a lot of it. But thank you for at least offering other options that our readers might want to check out instead of my pick.
Kitten, I hate to break it to you but we see a lot of tech during the year, so yes, if we plunk down our own hard-earned cash for something, we're going to think it's good. If there "are far better products out there," where's your list? You didn't suggest a damn thing to prove us wrong.
Finally, and on a similar note, this story should have been more appropriately titled "Our favorites from 2006." You guys are right, maybe this isn't a "best of." There are plenty of great things out there, but instead of bitching about the list being incomplete, I expect you, the readers, to pony up suggestions of things we missed. Only a handful of you did that. The rest of you just complained that the list was incomplete and walked away.

I like the list even though it's a little heavy on the Apple hardware (I know...cool commercials). With all of the gadgets out there that claim to be cool, any unbiased review is good. I do agree with drdrew on the swiss army mobile! The convergeance of mobile phones and mp3 players will be the death of the I-Pod and the Zune. I don't know about anyone else, but the prospect of watching movies on a 3-inch screen just doesn't appeal to me. I think both Apple and Microsoft would have been smart packing real utilitarian functionality (phone, email, web) into their music players, rather than trying to force video into a place where it doesn't really belong (podcast may be the exception).

Got to agree with the last few comments. This list is totally lacking. It's a "things we got that we liked" list with very little subjective comparison. In most cases there are far better products (phones, cameras, laptops, speakers, etc) out there that should have been listed instead. It's like you are trying to justify buying things to yourselves; probably why with so many of the listings you say things like "I know some of our readers might disagree"; damn right! You need to be more subjective and professional, as it is it's like some student listing his purchases on Amazon.
