Sony Does Well, Sorta

When I first purchased a Sony PSP, all I wanted to do was play classic PSOne games on it. Needless to say, I’ve been fairly disappointed since games like Final Fantasy VII and Xenogears never got ported over to the PSP. Fortunately, Sony has taken measures to change that by allowing users to download PSOne games off of the online PlayStation Store. Right now you can download Tekken 2, Syphon Filter, Crash Bandicoot, CoolBoarders and Hot Shots Golf 2.
Sony says more games will be available later this month, and that it will continue to expand the PSOne library over time. The games are fairly cheap too, running at $5.99 a piece. The bad news is you need a PlayStation 3 to access the online PlayStation Store, so if you don’t have one, you’re out of luck.

Aw man, I loved Xenogears. If they put out Xenogears for PSP, and I had a PSP, I’d never get any work done. Well not any more than what I do now.

Likewise, it is my favorite RPG.

Classic Sony: “we will fulfill your needs just buy one more thing”
I swear that PSP is that last bit of Sony I will ever buy. They sell you on some clunky wanna be itunes Sony Media Manager software and then when the update comes out they want another 10 bucks. Forget you Sony, I hope every format Sony comes up with dies a slow, financially painful death…oh…thats right they already have. (beta max, mini-disc, UMD, Blue-Ray)

As far as proprietary formats, apparently Sony has put out seven. All of which have failed (some for better reasons than others).
MiniDisk, Beta, Atrac, UMD, Memory Stick, Super Audio CD, MMCD (pre-DVD super CD).
A bunch of bleh as far as media formatting. Still, playing Xenogears unnoticed in class is pretty sweet…
