Wiimote Strap Fix
by Blake Robinson on December 5, 2006

Considering that people are launching their Wiimotes into their massively expensive TVs, it’s more than natural that one would want to develop a method for more definitely securing the Wiimote. Pretty easy fix actually. Just get yourself some braided fishing line, I’m going to recommend 15-pound test PowerPro over the SpiderLine recommended in the guide (trust me, I’m from New Orleans I know what I’m talking about), and tie a simple series of knots.

With the knots in place, if your Wiistrap ever snaps, rather than sending your Wiimote weeeeing across the room, it’ll simply taut the safety line and instead send it rebounding into your eye. Huzzah! Disaster averted.

  • The Wii controller looks a lot uglier when it’s not lit up with bright white fluorescent lights. As for the solution, that sounds like what MacGyver would do.

“I have a Wii controller that could fly out of my hands a punch a hole in my LCD any minute, but I still want to play. ::cue theme music:: Ahah, I have fishing wire, and I will make a safety loop out of it and I can play in safety…”

  • Or you could just use cheaper fireline :P. Its braid for the Wii - its not rubbing against rocks or fraying your guides.
