Cell Phones: Now Cancer-free

Rejoice! You can now retire that tinfoil hat, as a team of researchers in Denmark have concluded that cell phone usage does not raise the risk of cancer.
The study analyzed data from the entire population of Denmark and concluded that neither short nor long term cell usage increases one’s risk of cancer. It is considered one of the most comprehensive studies on the subject to date and as far as I can tell it wasn’t funded by Nokia (though I guess that would be apropos).
To give you an idea of the scope of the study, it followed 420,095 subscribers who signed up for cellular service between 1982 and 1995 through 2002. That means that some users were followed for 20 years. The team found 14,249 cancer cases amongst the group, which was actually less than one would expect from such a group.
So let’s start another unfounded rumor: According to a study conducted a team of Danes, cell phone usage reduces the risk of cancer.
Quick, someone put it on Wiki so it’ll be fact.

Right, and cigarettes make you smarter. What these researchers fail to take into account is that fact that before the 1990’s cell phones didn’t really fit in your pocket and the antenna was not always close to your head. Likewise, how often were cell phones used from 1982 to 1990 compared to today. Today there are lots of people out there who have gotten rid of the land lines and only use cell phones . I like to see some data on them in 10 or 20 years.
