Give Your Consoles The Housing They Deserve

Currently, my home theater and gaming setup consists of all my consoles (10 of them) spread apart on my apartment floor. Behind them, you’ll find more wires than you can wave a stick at (and plenty to start a fire with). If I could go out and spend a few hundred bucks on a cabinet similar to the one pictured above, I instantly would. This is actually a regular cabinet that was modded for gaming. Not only does the tower offer housing for each console, but it also has a piece of wood on each level that lifts the console up for better ventilation. There are also mounts on each side of the cabinet for controllers, accessories and cables. If this doesn’t inspire you to clean up the disaster that has taken place around your TV, I don’t know what will.

Wow. All hail the tower of gaming. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh….

The crowning jewel rests atop the mighty tower, new-world old-school NES.

All other gaming systems bow down before it.

Very nice. Even has the controller hangers. I could do without the LED fans tho.

Its like a shrine to gaming as well. I wonder what the GF thinks? Do i let him have his shrine to childhood in the Living room for all guest to see or let the mess or wires and cables litter the floor and take our first child? Tough choice =)

Next project should be installing a toilet and mini fridge/ Microwave…would never have to leave that room again.

Why did he build this thing 6 feet high? Was he high? If the shelves were spaced a bit more practically he could have accomplished this with half the space. Whatever.

the premise for this design is very good. the width, the fans and airflow for heat dissipation, controller holders, ect, it looks very functional, not to mention cool as all. reminds me of stoners gamers in college. :)

(ps, drugs are bad, mmkay. if you drugs, that’s bad; and you don’t want to bad, mmkay.)

This is a great idea! While I’m not going to build a 6′ high tower, it definitely gives some good ideas to follow with regard to storage and spacing/heat concerns. The controller holder is a great idea - keep those things untangled and off of the floor.

Ezekiel is right about the blue LED fans - unnecessary and distracting.

drdrew: In college, we would have built this out of a combination of empty kegs, cement cinderblocks, and scrap plywood. Very classy.

It should have cup holders, as well as power windows, not to mention a roof rack.

But the dividers are great for between the consoles, for those long trips where Wii and PS3 both fight over whether or not one another crossed their lines in the seat.

All in all, excellent design. Ginormous Blue LEDs seem a bit ridiculous though.

adi, empty kegs!?!

[rodney] “you were rich i tells ya,…whoah, rich enough to admit to bein’ able to build one of these in college” “I got a 40 and my parents broke my dinner plate on my ass on the way out the door, it was rough i tell ya…”

[sorry, most of you may not understand, that's ok, we do, lol]

drdrew: well, you can’t use full ones - how would you get the beer out? ;)
