My friend had a brand new iPod for his graduation present, and he got a hard case, only to find that after a few weeks of use, some grit had gotten in and scratched up the back of his iPod. Anyways, I actually got his girlfriend a iPod shield/skin thing, which has worked out great against the scratches. The pricing in kind of steep, but so far, she thinks it the best thing invented (after my friend of course). http://www.shieldzone.com/ and check the videos of how scratch resistant the shield itself is...
