Turn Your TV On With Famicon Controller

If you’re like most retro gamers out there, and your palms get sweaty every time you see something Nintendo, you may want to check out this Famicon controller that can be used for your TV. The retro controller’s D-pad lets you browse through channels, the start button lets you turn the TV on/off and the select button lets you change your input source.

The retro remote is not only officially licensed by Nintendo, but it also runs for a cheap $20. The controller is only compatible with a limited number of TVs (listed on the site), and you can’t use it for anything but your TV, making the universal controller not so universal.

Is it just me, or does the remote remind you of the retro alarm clock we posted a while back?

Ahh, Nintendo controllers. Is there anything they can’t do…

This would be cool if it came with a set top box that plays classic nintendo games via wireless as well. I see it as just a novelty item since it only controls your tv and a limited number of tv’s at that. I just hope that their wasn’t too much R&D making this silly thing and the alarm clock. At least Nintendo is spreading the classic nintendo nostalgia love.

Makes me wonder why regular controllers are so complicated with all their buttons
