While initial day-one launch shipment goals weren’t achievable due to early manufacturing issues, those problems have been resolved and we do remain focused on having one million PS3s in the pipeline by December 31, 2006.

– David Karraker, Communications Boss of SCEA

If you’ve been wanting to get your hands on a PS3 without having to camp out overnight of over pay for one on eBay, things are starting to look up for you. In a response to NPD’s PS3 report, Karraker has issued a statement stating Sony is back on track, meaning, we may very well see one million consoles by the end of the year. Though Sony might have figured out a solution to the Blu-Ray diode shortage it was facing earlier this year, it’s still going to be tough getting out over 400,000 units out in the market in a couple weeks.

Not all is good in the world of the PS3 though, the consoles that are already out are still facing numerous problems, which haven’t been addressed yet. The good news is, since Sony is getting out more PS3 consoles, it will be more inclined to fix the little problems, so we may see some updates in the near future.
