This news has been posted all over the place and every time I read it I get excited but then I realize the same thing that gets left out of almost every post. "Unlimited Calling gives you a full year of unlimited calls to anyone, on any phone, within the US and Canada". I keep trying to find a way to call my family in Peru and this story keeps rasing my hopes then completely killing them. Oh well.

Gizmo, if I am correct, allows free use only for a specified time for a week.

Yes, that is still a bargain compared to the landlines. I'm really thinking of getting Skype for 2007...but after looking at the gizmo project from Bob, I'm rethinking now. I haven't tried it yet, but it says "Free".

Not suprising, still a bargain though even if there are other fre alternatives, Skype's userbase is huge.

Forget Skype. There are options such as Gizmo Project (http://gizmoproject) that follow the telephone standards and provide superior quality. Skype also has security issues.

15 bucks a year is amazing. How is it they make money again? I guess they don't really have to pay much as far as traditional maintainance costs go, but 15 bucks?

BTW, Skype is totally worth it, I agree with Sydney. I mean for 15 dollars I should sign up my parents so that they can talk to family in HK more often without worrying about calling card minutes or hella international call rates.

That's brilliant. I was a bit worried when the changes were announced. I tend to call England from the States a vise versa quite a bit and certianly watch the minutes. While it is much much cheaper than phone cards, I still like the idea of unlimited.
