Aside from the novelty aspect of this piece of … uh, art, I’d wonder if having a snow-globe in the mouse adds unwanted weight to the device. I don’t want to be dragging around a weight just to open my documents.

Combine this with a mouse gestures navigation app and you could have all sorts of interesting results every time you shake your snow globe.

I do understand where they wish to market this mouse, but it’s such a limited market for a very limited amount of time per year. Who would it even be marketed to? The Christmas insane that have 25, 000 lights on the giant Christmas card on the roof on their Ford Mondeo.

I personally find no point in this, unless of course, I were to work in an office where other people would see the mouse - however I would be embarrassed by it like if I were a caravaner on a major road.

It’s not practical either, what happens when you drop it? Is it made of plastic - or does it crack open and spill its contents everywhere?

I don’t like it. Yes, it would be wonderful for the Christmas holidays. No, it would be horrible to be seen using it.

And that’s my $0.02

This is silly — but I love it. I think it would be funny to have to use it off-season, we’re always short on mice around my office so I know it would have to get used. I’m going to keep an eye out for one after the holidays because I’m sure they are way overpriced. If you want to sell your used one in January I’m game.

I’m with pixelfairy on this one - it’s pretty neat.

What would be even cooler is to have a “make your own” version. Sell the mouse with a hollow spot, the jelly stuff to put in it, snow, etc. Then you glue in some little trinket, fill up the globe, glue on the lid, and you’re done.

This way you can have a custom snow globe mouse. It might be a fun way to display your little good-luck charm or lucky penny.

With the clear area for the snowglobe, how long would it take to dirty up that glass? I wouldn’t think that would stay clear for too long, especially it’s where the base of the hand rests.. I agree with DeWayne, I don’t particularly like it. Sure, it’d be one of those gifts that you can get for that person that has “everything,” but to me, it’d be more of a White Elephant gift..

Stocks in Japanese fake snow companies suddenly rose this week.

This reminds me of that novelty “control panel” that has switches and stuff on it that don’t actually do anything, but is something nice to sit on your desk. Being a programmer, I’ve become very picky about the mice I use. Once I discoverd optical mice, there’s no going back even for a novelty piece like this. My Dad would probably like something like this, though.

Who cares about the mouse part? Astroglide and a snowman, what’s not to love?

The theme would be complete if the top was made of gel instead of just plastic. Depending on the price, it’ll be a fun gift to the friend-you-aren’t-that-close-to-but-have-to-buy-something-at-least-for.

Interesting mouse, I can see it being a novelty at first but would probably just annoy me after using it for a while.

Adam - a lot of people like a little heft to their mice.
I picked up a wireless mouse a few years ago and fell in love because of the heft, not the lack of a cord. There’s a new line of gamer mice out there that actually include a set of weights that you can slide in for the optimal fragging feel. Then again, the people who buy custom-weighed mice are probably the same people who think a $50 mouse pad will improve their game ;)

It’s cute, but not enough to make me give up my wireless mouse.

It would be cool to have as a desk piece, for decoration purposes, but imagine actually using that thing, especially for gaming. I’d guess that it would be heavy and bulky, which isn’t bad in some cases, but this looks like it might be too much! :-8

I wouldn’t mind the actual mouse so much if not for that ridiculous smiley face sticker across the scroll wheel and two mouse buttons. In addition, that light would bug me so bad when I’m working late at night. PS Jean-Marc, that 50 dollar mouse pad that I bought does help me with my game. A lot.

“Thin thin day of snow which it accumulated
The sky of the aurora to which color keeps changing little by little
The snowman, stares with the kind smiling face.”

Or:

“White LED lights up in the wheel section

As for the mouse light absorbent section, LED of red lights up

And, LED which changes to 7 colors lights up in the water surface

Because it is the mouse which various colors cross, the kind of world where illumination of the town is condensed spreads!”

That (and this) website is amazing.

This is cool. I am inspired.

I think it looks overtly tacky. The smiley face on the top clashes completely with the snowman theme. Should just make it a novelty christmas product and gain the holiday season sales.

Has anyone seen those totally enclosed ecosystems in a globe? (they usually contain some sort of algae, shrimp and plant) Well imagine if someone put those in a mouse. That would be so much cooler.

My first thought is that this mouse is for kids. It’s a snow globe, the nose lights up and the colors change! What more could you ask for?

Obet (Who am I?)

It would be cool if there were live fish.

Jon (Who am I?)

Amit: I’ve seen those self contained ecosystems, they were developed by Nasa to see if you could grow enough food on faraway space stations to facilitate the faraway space stations.

The only problem putting one in your mouse would be the constant sloshing of the water inside the mouse. Dunno how happy your pet sea monkey would be with you playing WOW or HL2.

Jon,
Good point. I take my idea back. They should instead put your monitor in one of those globes… so instead of having a screensaver of fish, you can have real fish swimming around your monitor. Ok, I am obviously just kidding.

I was being semisarcastic with the ecosystem idea too. =) I think its obsurd to change mice to have anything in them.

Amit, excellent suggestion.

I sensed the sarcasm, but I felt it’d be fun to play along.

We should start breeding mice with optical sensors along the bottom of their stomachs and wireless receivers for tails. Of course they’d have to rechargable, but imagine the possibilities, it’d be an optical pointing device, a hand warmer, but most importantly, a friend….

Jon, I’ll take two. I shall call them lephtclik and scroalwheel and we will be friends.

This is a fantastic product to be rolled directly into your local incinerator… what kind of crack is this company smoking to come up with such a butt ugly device!
