Normally, I would think that any site giving prizes away based on comment accumulation/content would be bumrushed with comments, but it’s been pretty mellow – which is always good. I mean, sometimes the same names are popping up in the ‘Recent Comments’ (mine included) but nothing like five-meaningless-one-liners-in-a-row. :O
Anywho, no problems for me – unless you count anxiousness.

Fortunately, “V for Vista, Baby” turns me on more.
Comment Moderation is cool. I guess CrunchGear is responsible for any content that ends up on the site (advertisement-wise), and if bad content ends up because of what a user wrote…. you guys could *possibly* come under fire.

It’s quite alright, you’re able to keep the spam comments from the actual comments of actual users trying to put forth and actual message. (That was a lot of actuals.)
As long as the words I put in this comment box eventually make it onto the live site, then I am quite happy with it appearing at all. That means someone actually cares about what I have to say about the subject at hand.
However, it could cause mass confusion amongst those people that are actually looking for their comment to be there as soon as they refresh the page in their browser. And from what it seems, that’s not happening due to the comment moderation.
You can always use Akismet ( http://akismet.com/ ) as a spam filter for Wordpress, or if you’re not using the Wordpress engine I suppose… Well, I don’t know what you can do about that.
Comment contests are great, don’t get me wrong, but I do appreciate hot sexy russian ladies as well.
Either in moderation or they’re just being plain deleted I guess.

I’m not in for your contest, I’m a tech-moron. :) I’m reading to learn more. Just want to comment on this sensible post.
Anyway, I wrote almost the same thing in my community profile at MBL. Once, I had to remove the widget because of their presence.
If they’re well-endowed physically as well as mentally, that would be fine. Just let them cover themselves up. :)
