Reader Response: Festivus Week - Day 1

To think we started CrunchGear just a little over five months ago. Its growth has been quick, and looking across the posts there is a comment on almost every entry. It kind of makes me sentimental when I think of how fast our little site is growing up. Pretty soon it’ll start growing hair in inconvenient places and thinking about other blogs in new ways.

I’m preparing myself for those long restless nights sat worrying in my chair. A glass of Johnnie Black at hand to calm the nerves and prevent panic and duress. It’ll happen. I’m ready for it. But for now, I’m enjoying that sweet innocent phase. The world of wonder. It’s nice even though I know it can’t last.

I don’t suppose there is any other way to celebrate except to start giving stuff away. So I’d like to announce the first winner of Reader Response: Festivus Week. *drum roll*

Jon will walk away with a brand new Sandisk Cruzer Micro 1gb flash drive. It’s U3 enabled, USB 2.0 complaint and all around awesome. Congratulations, thanks for reading, commenting, etc.

For those of you who didn’t walk away victorious today, don’t fret. There are still three Sandisk Cruzer drives remaining, including two Titaniums. And, of course, this Friday we’ll have our big, big prize, a Nikon D40 digital SLR camera kit valued at $600. If you’re interested in making it yours, all you have to do is comment and be sure to enter your email address in the commenter information form.

Congrats to Jon! He’s put up some interesting comments, so I’m glad he came away with something (and not the camera, which I want the most). XD

And now, the anticipation will build. :D

mmm, there are two of us on this blog… which one has won the right to sit high on his throne and tell the minions to erect a monument to his eternal glory?

Congrats,
The retractable USB head is so smart. I picked up one for my sister during black friday and its quite a beauty.

Oh, forgot there were two Jons. Maybe they have to share? :D

Better yet Isaiah, I will give my clone the micro and I will take the camera on Friday ;-) As previously mentioned, this shoe box simply doesn’t cut it anymore… people just don’t stand absolutely still for at least 3 minutes anymore and as a result, my library looks more like a sick joke then what you would call photographic wizardry.

Congratulations Jon!

That Cruzer looks like a cool little stick. Put it to good use.

Best wishes,

Congrats! I’m going to have to pick myself up one of these. My flash drive went dead after two years and took all my CPP Code with it. :-( Oh well, I needed to clean out the old stuff anyway. :-) I like the retractable connector on this bad boy.

I just realized it was 1GB, I thought it was 1MB for some reason… this gift is now 1000x better! YAHOO!!! I was racking my brain trying to figure out what I got laying around on my hard drive that is 1MB in size ;-)

Thanks again CrunchGreat!

1 MB? Perhaps you should send me the stick and I’ll send you a 3.5″ floppy. JK
I’m just out for the camera.

Other-Jon (do we need a numbering system for you two? :P): a shoe box is better than chasing down people with a sketchpad. D: Have you ever got to the stage in a drawing where you’re ready to make corrections, only to find out you don’t have a decent eraser?

S’horrible, I tell you. :(

Isaiah, that is why I am relegated to using 3D Studio Max for making most of my art… I am one of those lucky people who can’t sketch beyond stick people so thanks to over a decade of teaching myself 3D, I can now construct things using spheres, rectangles and splines. My work-around this limitation is a very long and tenuous one… not recommended for those without lots of patience. Visit my daily comic strip @ http://www.stinkyandsticky.com.

Consider yourself lucky, you don’t need to walk around with a soon-to-be 1lb camera to get your pictures, all you need is a pencil and some paper, or if your desperate, a needle and a piece of white clothing… I seriously envy you greatly and would trade the ability to draw for all my material possessions in a second, any day, anytime, anyplace.

Seems the things we most desire in this world are the things we can never have.

You guys have all done an amazing job keeping up with these posts today. Honestly, how do you do it? I can’t even read the posts, much less your comments.

Maybe I should just crawl in my hole and cry. Or, better yet, steal my wife’s half gig Cruzer that she got with her new computer. She won’t miss it. Or will she?

Congrats Jon, and may I be the frist to say that my vote goes to Amit for the second drive or the camera.
That guy constantly puts up insightful posts

Andrew, my entire life evolves around being “online”, so keeping tabs on websites is second nature - God didn’t bless me with artistic skills but he did give me a head on my shoulders… which I have expanded continuously since I was a kid. Being my own boss and this being Christmas time means that I have a bit more time on pursuit other endeavors.

Hi “That Canadian”, I didn’t even know about CrunchGear until it was featured in TechCrunch which I post every once in a while when I got some insight to give, I found out about the camera a little while later - forgot about it then decided to open my mouth and give it a run ;-)

Remember, predictions are very hard to make, especially when they are about the future ;-)

Wow, I am so confused… so many Jons. I personally don’t know a single person who spells there name as Jon. I really need to get out more I guess.

Jon (Who am I?)

Amit, my real name is Jonathan, being French… I ignored the “proper” english method of spelling the short form as John - hence… JON! I also find it easier to sign for things when I only got 3 letters to worry about instead of 8 - takes almost 1/3 less time!

You can now go back eating your “freedom” fries, knowing confusion dissipated from your life once more. Praise (insert favorite God) you don’t live in the Middle East… how will you ever get through the day where every second person has their own spelling deviation of “Mohamed”.
